Queen of Clubs

8 x 11 inches, Pitt pens, Promarkers, 2011.

I did a series of ACEO's based on playing cards a few years ago, so I was playing around with the idea of doing larger drawings on the same theme.

Harlequin Poster

I was asked recently to produce a poster for a play, "Imprinted", featuring Pantalone, Harlequin, Columbina and Pierrot, plus a couple of duck-billed platypus. Above is the initial sketch I produced, done with my markers. This was approved and I then went on to paint the watercolor version, as you can see below...

They have asked to use both versions on the various posters, programmes etc for the play!

The Gift

9.8 x 12 inches, watercolor, 2011.

Commission.

I've painted a couple of male faerie paintings for this client. In this one he wanted himself as a faerie giving a gift to Talon, the blond faerie featured in a previous painting, with a storybook feel to the image.

Diplomat Magazine

This is from the new issue of Diplomat Magazine featuring my illustrations! I met up with the magazine's Art Director, the lovely Jeannine Saba, for coffee, and she gave me 5 lovely, shiny new copies for me to keep, show off with etc. You can't really see from this image but the text is all about Catherine of Aragon, so features my portraits of Catherine and a young King Henry VIII. At Jeannine's request I also designed a header for the page, originally an old-style map of the "known world", featuring sea monsters and animals. It was decided to just use parts of the map which I think works well and gives Jeannine the option to use different images each month.

Both the portraits are also featured on the contents page. As you can imagine I'm thrilled! Big thanks to Jeannine for the commission.

Mario

6 x 8 inches, Promarkers and gouache, 2011.

Yesterday I purchased some Promarker pens. I wanted something I could draw quickly with for a project I'm working on. I spent the day playing around with them and I LOVE them! This was one of the sketches I did. I went out today and bought some colour ones. I'm really excited to see what I can do with them.
