Saint Martin de Porres
ACEO, 2.5 x 3.5 inches, watercolor and gouache, 2008.Born in 1579 in Lima, Peru, the illegitimate son of a Spanish noble and a black former slave, Saint Martin de Porres is known for the work he did for the poor and sick during his life. He is the patron Saint of many things, incuding people of mixed race, Peru and public health. He is usually shown with a broom to symbolise that he saw no job as beneath him and the austerity of his life. He died in 1639 and was canonised in 1962.

Banokles

ACEO, 2.5 x 3.5 inches, watercolour and gouache, 2008.
Banokles is another character from David Gemell's Troy novels. He is the friend and companion of Kalliades, both being outlawed Mykene warriors. Whereas Kalliades is thoughful and intelligent, Banokles is more brawn than brain, but is good natured for the most part.

Boreas

ACEO, 2.5 x 3.5 inches, watercolour and gouache, 2008.
Boreas was the god of the north wind and bringer of winter in greek mythology. He was one of the Anemoi, the gods of the winds, whose parents were Eos and Astraios (the dawn and dusk gods). He was strong and bad tempered. He fell in love with an Athenian princess, Oreithyia, but after refusing his advances, he kidnapped her by wrapping her up in a cloud and whisking her away, raping her and fathering four children by her.

The Centaur's Spear (PC Version)

This was a commission for a client who saw liked my previous Centaur painting and asked me to do a full body version. This is a slightly altered version that has had some anatomical details removed in photoshop.

Astraios
ACEO, 2.5 x 3.5 inches, watercolour and gouache, 2008.Astraios was the greek god of the dusk (or nightfall). He was married to Eos, the goddess of the dawn, and they produced many children including the winds Boreus and Zephyrus.

Eos

ACEO, 2.5 x 3.5 inches, watercolour and gouache, 2008.
Eos was the goddess of the Dawn in greek mythology, sister to Selene the moon goddess and Helios, the sun god, for whom she opened the gates of heaven every morning so he could ride across the sky. She, like her sister, had many lovers, notably Astraios, the god of dusk, with whom she bore the wind and stars.

Kalliades

ACEO, 2.5 x 3.5 inches, watercolour and gouache, 2008.
Kalliades is a character from the second of David Gemmell's Troy novels, "Shield of Thunder". He is a Mykene warrior turned outlaw, on the run from Agamemnon. After saving Piria (actually Kalliope, Achilles' sister ) from pirates, he, his friend Banocles and Piria are taken aboard the "Penelope", ship of Odysseus.

Selene
ACEO, 2.5 x 3.5 inches, watercolour and gouache, 2008.Selene was the moon goddess in Greek mythology, sister of Helios the sun god and Eos, the dawn. She had many lovers, including Zeus and Pan. She also fell in love with a shepherd, Endymion, and asked Zeus if he could decide his own fate. He chose to live eternally in sleep, and Selene visited him every night.

Hypnos
ACEO, 2.5 x 3.5 inches, watercolour and gouache, 2008.Hypnos in mythology was the personifiction of sleep. His brother was Thanatos (death) and his mother Nyx (night). He was associated with poppies and slept in a dark palace where the sun never shone.
